Greet’s Guys’ Garb

HEAR YE, HEAR YE!!

I, Greet, hereby open Greet’s Guy’s Garb, a clothes-making effort in service to my non-sewing compatriots.  Since I wish to encourage the learning of skills, I accept barter in lieu of Washington’s currency (see Wishlist below). I have sewn a 14thc French outfit for my husband, a 16thc Saffron Shirt for a Highland Scot, and am working now on a Norman tunic for the 3rd Crusade.  Pictures below.

All terms are always negotiable.  I can use your material or choose for you.  Suggestions for trade – please contact me first, in case someone has beaten you to the Wishlist item:

QUICK AND EASY = pair of detached chausses (close-up of Daan’s chausses on its way), or fighting T-tunic, or basic pants, or chaperon hood PIC (think 2-4 hours work)

I’d like in exchange:

  • 14thc wooden pattens – see pattern and shoe trace here.  (I have the leather and poplar for this – I just need labor interested in shoemaking/leatherwork)
  • Hinged mirror box – similar to those sold by Tancred of Tanglewood, see drawing here.
  • Collection of guitar music, including chords.
  • Edible currency – bottles of wine, honey, etc.
  • Archer’s armband, arrows, bowstring, quiver, etc. (need to figure out length of arrows)

MORE INVOLVED = embellished court tunic or embroidered/smocked shirt or late period doublet or personalized embroidery (think 2 days work)

I’d like in exchange:

  • set of cast buttons, see description here.
  • 15thc leather turnshoes, I wear an 8, see patterns/instructions here.
  • Handcranked spindle wheel, see instructions here.
  • A packable, comfortable chair, please suggest design.  (It’s going to sit on my porch mundanely, so it also needs to resist the elements.)
  • Foldable handtruck, please suggest design.
  • Bucket carrier (I have two buckets) like this.

  • 12′ diameter 14th c single pole tent, as described here – I need a pole that breaks down into 6′ segments, to fit in my car.
