Daan comes to Fighter Practice!

(Again I forgot my camera!)

We drove the Sunbeam to Fighter Practice.  I had become well-nigh annoying on this topic – ‘there’s FP on Sunday, remember?’  ‘You know you can wear anything along with your tunic that you want?’  ‘What will we bring to share at Grub and Garb?’

We got there very early, since the time had changed, and Geoffrey and PEG helped Daan get suited up.  He says it reminded him of gearing up for a jump.  (He used to jump out of perfectly good airplanes for the Air Force and loved it.  However, apparently the gearing up and strapping on wasn’t the fun part.  I must remember that Daan’s sport of choice involves being as nearly naked as society allows.  In direct opposition, seemingly, dancers do a fair amount of tying up and strapping down.  Perhaps I’m projecting on him?  Nah.)

I still think he looked really good in a helmet, since he has that square jaw.  Again, I apologize for no pics. (Sob!)

When some other fighters got there, they showed him some basics.  To me, it seemed that Daan wanted to chase them up and down the field.  The other fighters sort of stood there and fended him off.  (A pic would be great here.)

Afterwards, Daan said that the guys had said that for a newbie, he wasn’t half bad.  Way to be kind, folks!  At the time, he said he’d try it again, if he can ever get to practice.  However, now that a couple days have gone by, he’s not so sure – his arthritic shoulder does not like all the banging.

I hold out hope for fencing, now.
