Why does the universe hear ‘I want my mother’s table loom’ and SuperSize my thought?

Just came back from the Mission, where I was looking for a garb belt.

No luck there, though I did bring home a boiled wool men’s blazer to cut up for my detachable sleeves and braid extensions and a great pair of shoes that will work well for garb.  Shoes are tricky.  That was very lucky, esp as these are cutout in the back to show off the fancy heels of the socks I’ve been working on.  Cool.

Anyway, I’m poking around the ‘Weird Stuff’ section, and I see a FLOOR LOOM.  For $89.  Amazing.  A floor loom is way beyond me, but very cool.  I hope it makes someone’s year.

I have nearly finished my undertunic – I made some refinements to the same recipe I used for Daan’s tunic, and it looks wonderful.  I’ll write a dedicated post to it (and the lipstick neckline technique!) when the weather clears for photography.   It just needs hemming and it’s ready for wearing/ embellishment.  And a belt. (!)  Must look at Salvation Army.

Based on the success of the fit for the undertunic, I cut out the basic pieces for the overdress this morning.  It’s made of the plaid I used for the banner above, and will have short sleeves and a laced deep-vee neckline like this dress, which I found here .  She used frames (argh!) so I can’t link directly to the right page.  It’s the ‘rust red dress’.

My version will not be shorter than the putty undertunic, and the undertunic will eventually have red embroidery at the neck and hem and maybe sleeves somehow.  Also, my version will have an embroidered tape applied to the neckline, I think.  At any rate, I have the tape, it matches nicely…we’ll see if it’s too much.

And my undertunic has well fitted sleeves.<full of self>
