Soper Lane

Soper Lane is a group of women who have studied the working lives of fifteenth century silkwomen.

Courtesy of Elspeth, and much thanks to her for referring this great resource.  Verily neateth, huh?  (I’m practicing speaking forsoothly in preparation for wrapping gifts at our local Barnes and Noble this weekend.  It’s a fundraiser for the Shire.)

Soper Lane (the site) features a newsletter, forum, database, links, and lovely pictures like the one below in the gallery.

Everthing above is beautiful – credits are due the photographer, Mark Griffin, for seizing the opportunity to imitate portraits of the period. Gorgeous.

I apologize again – we had a fabulous practice yesterday, and all we A&S folks brought many toys to play with. But I didn’t take any pictures.  Possibly because I was too busy having my dresses trimmed (Saint Elspeth, I love you for crawling around on the ground) and dancing with Edwin.  I am not quite so worried this week about finishing some garb for Gift Wrap.  Tonight I will hem both my and Daan’s tunics, and then I just have to put the embroidery on my dress.  Which will probably take the rest of the week, as I’m going to put it on both the neck and the hem.  Masochist, I am.  I’ll save the work on the plaid overdress for next week’s Gift Wrap.
