FESTIVAL, February 3, 2007Our 5th Just Because Herbal
Festival will be held on February 3, 2007. This date,
the first Saturday in February, was chosen from an
ancient Celtic cross-over date between winter solstice
and spring equinox which has been celebrated for
thousands of years. Days start to lengthen, renewal and
rebirth are in the air. A joyous time to be had by
all. This year’s will be filled to the brim with
educational and fun mini-workshops. Concurrent sessions
will be going all day long. At least three every
hour. There is a great line-up of guest speakers this
year including: Bob Hockmuth: IFAS, Danielle Treadwell:
UF, Rosie: Rosie’s Organics, Keith Baxter: Kool Beanz
Cafe, Pam O’Toole: One Eleven Grill, Donna Legare:
Native Nurseries, Herman Holley: Turkey Hill Farms,
Leslie Hanks: Yoga Unlimited, Marge Powell: Magnolia
Hill Soap Company, Traci Anderson: Antique Rose & Herb
Farm, Sylvia Dunnam: Florida Trail Association, Cynthia
Connolly: Ladybird Organics, Linda Cunningham: Pressed
Flower Designs. This just the beginning, all with new
and pertinent topics. There will be many vendors and
lots of GOOD FOOD. Some of the vendors include: Kurtz &
Sons Dairy, Sweet Grass Dairy, Marketing & Rural
Development of IFAS, Applecross Forge, Cunningham’s
Pressed Flowers, Joy Hartsfield Wildlife Artist,
Seminole Springs Antique & Rose Farm, Plank’s Rough Cut,
Herbal Creations. The Sam Worley Band of Monticello
will be playing music on "old-timey" instruments.
$5.00 per person entrance fee will allow you to attend
any of the workshops all day. No registration
necessary. Put this date on your calendar.

Ooooh…O’Toole’s looks like quite a nifty place! Don (Edwin) and I are both interested in culinary and medicinal herbs. Perhaps we could organize an arts & sciences field trip? Sounds like it could be a bunch of fun!
