Kit details

I've been talking with Brenna today, and she was full of questions about kit details, so I thought I'd share.

The belt I've got is not a C-belt.  Here it is laying out flat:

Not a C-belt

Here's how to make one, sacrificing a t-shirt and using lots of duct tape (heh – this sport runs on duct tape, it seems).

I need one of these soon.  I'm sitting in the legs now, and the leg straps on this belt are being pulled out by the legs…they don't run straight up like they ought.    The leg buckles seem to want to extend to my hip bones, but that's not where the belt straps are.  They're a good inch inside my hip bones.  Also it pulls hard on my lower back…as in this picture.

Here's where I got my jill (female cup).  I asked about sizing, and got a medium for me – I'm 5'-7", 150 lbs, 41" hip circumference, and it fits pretty well.  It's annoying though – black and white construction means it will show under any sort of clothes.  Maybe that's a safety feature.

Bri emphasized the kit feeling comfortable, and I've got a ways to go with this one.  The right leg straps fit fine, but the left leg needs a bunch more holes, particularly in the lower leg – it's essentially just hanging off the belt now, and that's no good.  I want the support of my calf structure.

I'm not sure what to do about knee pads.  I got some standard generic knee pads, and they're too big for this metal.  The metal fits me really well – I just need something to transition from tender skin to metal poleyn, and just heavy fabric isn't enough.  Perhaps old knee braces?  I used to use those when we did lots of knee work in ballet…hours  kneeling on hardwood floors while the other choreography got worked out.  Must dig them out.
