How did I not find this site before? (Everyone else probably knows
it.) For the newbies like me, who want to have more historically
accurate garb…
sells readymade garb and accessories, but I think their real value is
as a research reference. You will see photos of real people in
reproductions of extant pieces, down to the underwear, WITH
REFERENCES. The pages on colors appropriate to various classes and
times/places, with explanations of how those colors are made, are
nearly all that I could want. Ditto the fabric pages. (As a fiber
geek, that’s saying something.)
For those who balk at the prices – none of this sewing is impossible
for the Project Night people. Come out and say, "I want one of those,
and that, and that, " and know everything you pointed to has been
vetted for a particular time period, and we can get you started. Dark
Ages (Viking/Saxon) through 15thc.
If you can get to Pennsic someday, these folks merchant there every year. Way cool to see the stuff in person.
Re: above comment.
They’re at Gulf War too.
