When you ask questions like this, you know I’m going to comment, right? 😀 deiseil (or deasil) comes from the Scottish meaning to the right or going right. It is also related to the Latin base for dexter (right side in heraldry) Widdershins is from the German and means “the wrong direction.” These are common phrases used in witchcraft for casting cirlces. One can go either deasil or widdershins depending on what one is casting the circle for. While deasil is most common (going the “right” direction) there are times when casting a circle “the wrong direction” is called for. Now which came first, the chicken or the egg?
