Wow.
I had great conversations with so many wonderful people. (runs to get yellow note sack) (please forgive mis-spellings or bits of name omission – I am cross-referencing the Laurels page, but it’s not very complete.)
Angharad. Madhavi. Maestra Lucia Domenica Farnese. Mistress Maysun. Master (latin guy). Mistress Calleja. Gabrielle. Mistress Ciarra. Mistress Rosamonde.
And got to talk again with lots of other wonderful people I’ve met previously.
HMQ Lethrenn (delivered the footlets I made her – whew!). Mistress Jadi. Mistress Asta. Mistress Bianca. Mistress Una. Rodoald. Lorenzo. Andreva. And of course, MY laurel, Mistress Maudeleyn Taillour!

My new apprentice belt, which was Maudey’s from Master Allan, and that’s his device(badge?) in yellow and blue. The pearls are in honor of Magna Faire’s theme this year as PEARLS. I suggested to Maudey that we announce at this event, because then I could be added to her ‘string of pearls’. Margareta (from which Greet is a pet name) comes from the Greek for ‘pearl’. Her other apprentice is a Marguerite.
I bought a pitcher from Mistress Ciarra (and flirted with her 11-month-old). I think it’s akin to the Luttrell illustration from whence my apron comes. I fear a ‘costuming on the body’ Luttrell entry in future. Or maybe it will be Tech in some way? I am in LURVE with the Luttrell Psalter.
Ah, so pretty. I have set this on various counters near me through the day so I can admire it. I suppose I could go get a rose from the garden and put it in…but then cats would munch the rose, and pull over the pitcher….better not.
Rodoald continues to spoil me – this time with a gorgeous bone needle box and thimble, with needles!
Ignore the dirty yardstick behind, the box is about 3" high. The thimble does fit my finger – and I’m excited to try out the needles. Tech Experimentation, you know. That’s a G on the top, and the bee design is on both sides. I love it.
(Don’t worry, I have plans for a lovely present in return, and advanced approval from the recipient.)
And finally! Gabrielle had my kit for the Plimoth stockings (more in a future post).
There’s some plant babies for a future gardening post (someday!) in the back there.

Whoa! I didn’t know you had been “picked up.” Maudey is awesome people. Congrats!!! Or as I told another friend, welcome to the CIAA – Central Intelligence Agency of Associates. Peers talk, and so do we. 😉
Seriously, I think it is wonderful!
Welcome to the family, Greet! I am sad that I couldn’t make it to Magna Faire to share in your apprentice ceremony, but the scheduling just refused to work out. 🙁 Are you planning on coming to Menhir? I’d love to have some time to sit down and chat about fun textile and fibery things (I’m learning to knit socks, so you could probably teach me a lot in that arena!).
All the best! Feel free to drop me an email anytime, as well. 🙂
Your fellow “pearl”,
Margherita
