Biz Meeting Minutes, March 3, 2007
– SENESCHAL and DEPUTY SENESCHAL – Opening words (Gabrielle and
Thomas) – "It’s cold out here, let’s make it quick."
– OFFICER REPORTS
– A&S – Elspeth – forms up-to-date.
Start thinking about Saturday in the Park – talk to Greet about it. (Greet: Expect scheduled craft days, because I don’t want people to be stuck at home the two weeks prior making ten widgets by each one lonesome – this should be a group activity.) Suggestion: 3rd Sunday of the month = "Garbapalooza" – people bring machines and we set up tables and work on crafts here at FP. "Crafts" could be fundraising items, or garb for members who don’t sew, or just another opportunity for those who can’t come to Project Night on Friday nights in Navarre at the Chapells. However, this month due to Gulf Wars, no Garbapalooza will occur, as no FP is expected to occur.
– HERALD – Edwin – people working on their names/devices; forms up-to-date
– HOSPITALLER – Geoffrey, absent, but up to date
– MARSHALL – Peg, here, and cold.
– REEVE – Juliana – absent, but up to date
– HISTORIAN – Greet – Got everybody recorded, thanks.
HOT TOPICS
– Website hosting – Motion was passed unanimously to move website hosting to Jesse’s server, which will save the Shire (and Larian) server fees.
– Arabian Nights – Much thanks to Lavena, Mel and others who sucessfully petitioned Arenal for half of the net at Arabian Nights, so it will financially benefit the Shire; Members of Phoenix Glade will help work this event. Peg pointed out rightly, that the money is only a bonus; the real benefit is getting to help and learn how events are hosted, and again, we thank Arenal for their support in our growth process.
ACTIVITIES
– Gulf Wars March 17 – Everyone seems to be set up for camping. If we have at least this much participation next year, we should consider registering together as a Shire, and Barony of Osprey is willing to share their land for campsite.
– Festival on the Green (Arenal) 31 March – Melbrigda explained how we are setting up as a medieval encampment, arranged in a circle with a gate at one side, and there will be merchants, a fashion show, live crafts being demo’d, static crafts, dancing, fighting, mail being tried on, etc.
– Heritage Museum Saturday in the Park 28 April – updates (Thomas)
– Crown List May 5 – Phoenix Glade is providing Traveler’s Fare and Fundraiser’s Lunch with Sweets Table
updates (Gabrielle) – Lavena is coordinating the Sweets Table
– Fort Walton Beach Library Demo 19 May (Geoffrey)
– Billy Bowlegs Parade – Jun 1-3, 2007 – do we want to do an
activity? (Thomas)
-General Calendar – Some discussion about possibly committing to too many events, and how much is that. Suggestion that when a Saturday event is planned, all normal fighter practice activities be transferred to that event, and no Sunday FP occur on that weekend, so as to allow one weekend day for members’ mundane lives.
-Publicity for Calendar – Greet introduced a graphic design project, to design an all-purpose Shire Appearance Flyer, that could be posted in shops around town that take an interest in Shire appearances. She said that a couple of antique shops asked if they could post something for us. The suggestion was made that when appearances are scheduled as part of another entity’s program, we check with them first before posting – but they (the Library, etc) may well not have anything that they could give to private business owners who are interested for other reasons.
ACTION ITEM REVIEW – There was dancing at this FP; we learned the Rufty Tufty, a dance for two couples.
