Gunnar (Cody)
Kail

Business:
1) Funds raised at Crown List: ~$280 + sweets table

2) Demos are going really well, and attracting us new membership, and slowly raising money.  (Alicia – the flower wreaths are the best sellers.)  Thomas says his phone is ringing off the hook with requests from various groups for our appearance.

3) Herald (Edwin) and A&S (Elspeth) stepping down from official duties.  Gabrielle says we’ll avoid filling these roles as long as possible.  If any member needs heraldic work done, see Melbrigda.

4) Money – Reeve needs a deputy – Dan volunteered.  Also will need 1-2 people with active blue cards to be on the signature card for checksigning Just In Case.  See Juliana if you feel dependable.

5) Gold Key – Various new people are showing up.  At least two have just PCSed here, and are just waiting on personal belongings to help them play better.

5a) As we’re getting very popular, Gefroi needs as many recent digital pics as he can get to help publicize the Shire.

5b) The Bay Beacon wants to do a double-headed feature on us; one for the military paper, on military involvement with SCA, and one on just us for the civilian paper.

5c) Gefroi requests that those members who feel comfortable, send their first names and mundane occupations to Webmaster Larian, so that a Shire List may be made that demonstrates the variety of walks of life to the possible newcomer, to help them positively identify with SCA life.  For example:  Greet (Sarah, residential architect) or Gefroi (Andy, emergency nurse).

6) Daggers & Hemlock – Event Aug 25th, one day, air-conditioned, to be held at FWB Fairgrounds.  Feast menu has been submitted to Gefroi (Autocrat) – and was passed around (in calligraphy!) in the meeting.  We all did our best not to drool on or smudge it, as the selections looked quite edible.

6b) Friday Night Project Night (in Navarre, at Lavena’s (Jan’s) house) is heretofore Friday Night Event Prep Night.  Recipe redaction (conversion from mysterious Middle English to modern recipe instructions and amounts) begins this Friday.

6c) D&H TROLL(registration) opens at 8 am on Saturday.  Weapon Inspection set for 9 am.  Two sets of martial activities planned; one to be a ‘Daggers and Bucklers’ tournament.  A&S to run concurrently. (Jan is A&S).  Possible A&S competition, themed ‘Herbs: Poisons and Poultices’.

6d) Funds: $380+220 = $600 so far to put on Event.  Fairgrounds mgmt very accommodating, and terms are good for extra equipment or last-minute rescheduling. Available funds ~$1000, so we’re okay.

7) Peg passed on  Sir Cal’s compliments to the Shire: Our fighters are gaining respect and renown for variety and depth of skill.  Huzzah!

8) Many of Melbrigda’s calligraphed scrolls were awarded and complimented at Crown List.  Huzzah!

If anyone would like to add to or correct any of the above, please contact Greet, your humble recorder, and it will probably be done.
