Religious divisions of Germany, 1610(I’m discovering that Germany had a lot more to do with Hungary 1350-1450 than I’d previously been taught. Which only makes sense, given the geography.) Continue reading More maps.

As recently posted on the Phoenix Glade Yahoo!Group… Greet was using her foot for finger loop braiding. Not sure why she was using her foot but she was. Somewhere there’s a picture of me doing this. Until then, imagine me parked on a sofa, with my foot propped on a chair in front of me. I’ve got the knot end of the braid tucked into my shoe strap, and long loops hooked on each of my fingers. In order to keep the strands in proper tension, I ended up doing a kind of abdominal crunch on every thread braided. The … Continue reading Laces for lacing and ties

I’ve written up minutes for the biz meeting we had at Ryan’s Sunday night. I’m posting them to the Yahoo!Group, but I can also post them here, so the links will be more convenient. Is that a good idea? Remember, the whole wide world can read messages here, so maybe not. But perhaps that doesn’t matter – as I think the Group is pretty public, too. Detail of the eastern Mediterranean and Middle East, by Ranulf Higden, 1350. That’s well into the Crusades – how on earth did they get there and back? Must learn more about this cartography stuff. Courtesy of Anachronista, I present links for Medieval Mapping. As she says: Want more images of period Maps? Clicketh, I say! Maps of the Early Medieval Period (400-1300 A.D.)Maps of the Late Medieval Period (1300 – 1500 A.D.) Clicketh, indeed. This would be the motley crew I served with at Barnes and Noble the past two weekends. Yours truly in pigtails. From the left: Edwin (herald), Greet, Geoffrey (Hospitaller), Elspeth (Arts & Sciences), Edwin, and Greet. I’m happy with this version of my garb, as it’s ‘earliable’. But there’s more in the works – I just got tired of sewing, and there’s holiday traveling to do. More in the new year! Continue reading Gift wrapping, forsoothly!
