Greet’s Grandmother’s Garb

So here’s some new pics of garb – but it’s too early in history to be new clothes for Greet herself.  This is the version I got so many compliments on at Gulf Wars.

Perhaps they’re her grandmother’s court dress – circa 1380 – which is a bit of a stretch, since Greet is twenty-five in 1520.  One of Greet’s parents must have been a  younger child in a string of siblings.  I’ve got it – it’s her paternal grandmother’s stuff.  Her, er, MY father is a younger son, and I was born in his middle age.  The clothes are certainly well taken care of…

(These were taken on Easter Sunday, 2007.  Ignore the dead lawn walkway, and the overturned tomato pots in the background.)

I rather look like I’m ready to slug out any grubby little pickpockets I happen to meet on the way to Mass.

I tried a folded hands version, but my photographer didn’t have the patience to coax nice facial expressions out of me, and I look like I’m plotting a poisoning.  You’ll have to imagine that – I’m too vain to share.

Here you can see how the cinnamon-bun hair looks:

That’s a bit happier.  Life’s tough at court.

Much thanks to Lavena, for the gift(!) of the dress, and the help altering it to fit my skinny self.

Mom, notice that I’m wearing Miss Barbara’s necklace again.  For everyone else – Miss Barbara taught pre-K Montessori to me.  She gave me that necklace (it’s brass and plastic) when I was 5, for helping with the 3-yr-olds.  EVERYBODY likes it.  I figure they can see the karma.  I’ve worn it for countless school pictures, on stage, and now it’s medieval.  I think I’ve probably worn it more often than my engagement diamond.
